Stephen Copley was retained to determine the feasibility of siting a 20,000-seat open-air amphitheater on 75 acres in the City of Chula Vista. Mr. Copley assisted with early site planning studies that were driven by potential noise (sound contour) impacts to future residential areas and the fact that the site was actually the redevelopment of an existing business park. The early studies determined that it was feasible to site the amphitheater at the Chula Vista location.

Ultimately, Mr. Copley was retained by Universal Concerts, Inc. to assist with all site civil engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying. Of particular interest is the fact that the site is accessible within the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Coors Amphitheatre is the first large-venue facility on the West Coast that meets these requirements.
