DAMATO PARK

Client: U.S. Navy Southwest Division

Design development and construction documents were provided for a recreational park in an established Navy housing project. The two-acre park is to include a play area, a tot-lot, half-court basketball, free play areas and a skateboard park. The skateboard park is to be the Navy’s first attempt at providing a neighborhood with such an amenity.

The skateboard park was designed to accommodate all abilities, while maintaining the park’s ability to challenge experienced skaters. The skateboard park displays numerous elements, all of which are going to be constructed of smooth concrete forms, such as bowls, rails, stairs, pyramids and quarter pipes.

Adjacent to the skateboard park undulating fields of turf divide the multiple park amenities. The park flourishes with picnic tables and walking trails. The intended design of the park will reward the adults and children of the adjoining community.
